Cabin in the Woods for Sale

Before & After

This rustic home in Lions Bay, British Columbia, was empty as we prepared it for sale. The views were spectacular, but many home buyers find it difficult to imagine the comfort and coziness of a space when it has no furniture. Just a few large furniture pieces, with a rug, some artwork and plants can make a world of difference in appealing to a buyer. This was a particularly “fun” project as there were about 40 stairs leading down to the home so it was a real workout for my realtor partner and me.

West 5th Renovation

Before & After

This project demanded some design updates. Even though the kitchen and bath had already been renovated, all the interior doors were dated as were the popcorn ceilings, thin baseboards, and overall décor. On a relatively small budget we were able to update all features and bring in some condo size furniture pieces staged in an analogous color palate that made the small condo look spacious and pulled together.

Destiny Flip

Before & After

This project simply required white paint and new furnishings. The “before” photos show a dull beige paint housing dark over sized furniture. Bringing in a new color palette with airy furnishings created a larger feeling space with a modern vibe. The big coup was making over the tiny storage room into a handy office with tons of storage.

Family Room Update

Before & After

This was a quick and easy project that required new furnishings and re-using pieces from other rooms in the house. Using lighter colored furniture and an area rug, with some black accents, resulted in a much brighter feeling room. Now the view, which is the natural focal point of the room, is highlighted. The client and I shopped together and then brought in pieces that she already had in her home. So fun.

Redesign for Sale Purposes

Before & After

Working with a homeowner who has lived in their home for decades can pose a real challenge for the resale process. Years of accumulating things, of providing storage for now adult children, and generally looking beyond the piles of “stuff” results in a space that felt cluttered and chaotic. In this project, the client was able to sell and give away many items and utilized a dumpster for piles of throw away pieces. Then we re-arranged her existing pieces, highlighting some lovely art from around the world and showcasing the sensational view. We added a few extra rugs and plants and, voila, a space that sold quickly.
